In a strategic move ahead of the upcoming national elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to embark on a 6,200-kilometer journey, named ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra,’ spanning from Manipur to Mumbai. The yatra, scheduled to commence on January 14, is designed to connect the northeastern and western regions of the country and will conclude on March 20, just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

This extensive yatra, akin to his previous north-south ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ last year, is seen as a crucial initiative by the Congress party, credited for its success in securing victories in two southern states. Rahul Gandhi’s earlier footmarch from Kanyakumari to Srinagar, lasting five months, garnered widespread support from Congress workers and opposition leaders.

The ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ is expected to cover 14 states and 85 districts, with Rahul Gandhi traversing Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The journey will involve a combination of bus rides and foot marches, aiming to maximize direct engagement with the people.

While the Congress party sees this yatra as a means to strengthen its electoral standing, the BJP has dismissed the initiative, asserting that the previous ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ was rejected by the people, and coining new terms would not yield substantial results.

During the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ last year, the Congress party claims that Rahul Gandhi’s extensive journey played a pivotal role in their success in the Karnataka and Telangana elections, where they managed to seize power from the BJP in Karnataka and the BRS in Telangana.

As Rahul Gandhi sets out on this ambitious journey, the ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ is poised to become a focal point in the political landscape, capturing the attention of voters and shaping the discourse in the run-up to the impending national elections.
